GENERAL KINGTEE FEATURES

Must I connect my Kingtee tablet to a computer?

Yes, your Kingtee tablet must be connected to a computer as an external display and input device.

Do Kingtee tablets have a display output port?

A display output is not provided, however, the tablet can simply be looped through a projector.

Do I need to purchase a screen guard?

Most Bosto tablet models are supplied without a protective film (screen guard). The tablet screen is made of smooth glass or acrylic, and most users are pleased with the feel of drawing on this surface.

You should not need a screen guard for normal use, however, if you like the textured feel or want your nib to slightly drag (like pencil on paper) then a screen guard is a good option. The reduction of glare is another benefit of a screen guard, but please be aware that the added resistance will result in rapid nib wear.

What is parallax and is this a problem?

Unless your line of sight is perpendicular to the drawing surface at the point of contact of the pen nib, the nib position will differ slightly from the apparent cursor position. This effect, known as parallax, is due to the thickness of the glass screen plus the air gap between it and the display panel beneath. This distance is minimal for all current Bosto tablet models, ranging from 1.3 mm to 3 mm.

The parallax effect is present in all tablets, however, the effect can be minimized by careful calibration while keeping your head in the normal position relative to the tablet when drawing. And if you watch the cursor rather than the nib when drawing, then you will overcome the effect altogether.

Which operating systems are supported?

22HD Series (22HD mini/22HDX) tablets support Windows up to 10 and Mac OS X up to 10.10.2 (excluding 10.9.5). Users report that the current Mac driver works with OS X El Capitan (10.11). The current Mac driver is in Beta stage, and binding pen buttons is not supported. An open source Linux driver is available - click here.

14WX tablet supports Windows up to 10 and Mac OS X up to 10.10.2 (excluding 10.9.5). Users report that the current Mac driver works with OS X El Capitan (10.11). The current Mac driver is in Beta stage, and binding pen buttons is not supported. An open source Linux driver is available - click here.

22U Series(22U mini/22UX) tablets support Windows up to 10. Users report working with Linux openSUSE leap 42.1 and Ubuntu 16.04 (third-party firmware update required).

13HD tablet supports Windows up to 10.

Is there a choice of pen nibs?

The standard pen nib is firm (like a stylus tip) and it may take some time for you to appreciate the unique tactile feel of the pen. There is no choice of nibs to change the way the pen feels on the drawing surface.

Can line smoothness be improved?

Line smoothness can usually be adjusted by means of line stabilization settings in your application software. Furthermore, fitting an anti-glare film on the tablet screen can cause the pen nib to slide better and produce smoother lines.

What can I do about dust particles under the glass screen?

Sometimes dust particles penetrate the housing and settle under the glass screen. Typically this can happen during shipping. These particles can normally be dislodged by gently tapping the side of the housing while holding the tablet vertical. Please note that this is not considered as a defect.

What is the essential difference between tablet models?

Kingtee tablets fall into two families based on digitizer technology. The 22HD Series (22HD mini/22HDX) and 14WX tablets utilize a passive wireless digitizer with a battery-free pen. The 22U Series (22U mini/22UX) and 13HD tablets utilize an electromagnetic resonance digitizer with a powered (rechargeable) pen. Passive wireless is the more costly technology, and is considered as more precise for drawing fine detail. Electromagnetic resonance technology has characteristic stability. The choice of technology is a matter of personal preference, and not of quality.

Do Kingtee tablets offer pen tilt sensitivity?

Pen tilt sensitivity is not available in any Bosto tablets.

Why does there appear to be backlight bleed?

The IPS display panel emits a characteristic light at the edges, which may be visible under certain viewing conditions and mistaken for backlight bleed.

KINGTEE 22HD mini and 22HDX FEATURES

Are the pen side buttons customizable?

The current tablet driver does not support customization of the pen side buttons.

Does the screen have a replaceable protective film?

The drawing surface is made of 2mm thick glass and does not have a protective film.

Is the pen compatible with other models?

The 22HD Series tablets use a battery-free pen. This pen is interchangeable with the battery-free pen supplied with 14WX and 14WA (Nov 2013 release) tablets.

How precise is drawing?

Line work is excellent and drawing fine details is possible thanks to minimal play in the pen nib. However, please note that results will vary because line control is influenced by line stabilization tools built into different software applications. It may not be possible in certain non-vector applications to draw a perfectly straight line using a physical ruler placed on the screen.

What is the ideal monitor refresh rate?

Due to signal interference it may be necessary to set the tablet monitor refresh rate to 50 Hz to prevent spurious cursor jumps/clicks.

Why does the mouse pointer jump randomly?

A jumping mouse pointer is indicative of signal interference. This phenomenon is less prevalent in laptops than desktops. Signal interference can be minimized by avoiding tangled tablet cables, and connecting to USB and display ports on your computer that are well separated. The quality of your USB cable is important, and it must have a ferrite bead (choke). If necessary connect the USB cable so that the ferrite bead is closest to the computer.

Is jitter a problem?

The effects of signal interference can extend to jitter, which may be perceptible at the extreme edges/corners of the display. In extreme cases jitter/jumping may be experienced along the bottom of the display (typically a band of 5~10 pixels). Please see the above question for tips to minimize signal interference.

Sometimes I hear a high pitch sound - is this normal?

Depending on the sensitivity of your hearing you may notice a peeping sound when drawing on different areas of the display. This may be more noticeable in the bottom area of the display. The position of your tablet in your work area may have a bearing on your perception of this sound.

KINGTEE 22U mini and 22UX FEATURES

Has a Mac OS X driver been released?

Only an official Windows tablet driver has been released. Users report a third-party firmware modification that supports Mac OS X; details may be found on our user group.

Is the pen compatible with legacy 14" tablets?

No, the pen is not compatible with legacy 14" tablets (pre November 2013). The 14WX pen is battery-free, whereas legacy 14" tablet pens are powered (battery/rechargeable). However, the 14WX pen is interchangeable with the 22HD Series pen.

How precise is drawing?

Line control and precision is influenced by line stabilization tools built into different software applications. Manga Studio is generally accepted as the finest application for line smoothing, and offers near perfect curves and straight lines. It may not be possible in certain non-vector applications to draw a perfectly straight line using a physical ruler placed on the screen.

KINGTEE 13HD FEATURES

SUPPORT

Do you have a support forum?

Yes, we host and maintain the Bosto User Group forum, which offers up-to-date drivers, beta driver access, installation guides, software test reports, product information and reviews, discussion sections, and one-on-one technical support backed by factory engineers. The user group is a support community managed by volunteers for the benefit of all Bosto tablet users. However, our clients receive front line support through the user group, including exchange and warranty intervention.

How do I access technical and user support?

You can request assistance for any technical/user issue through our user group. We monitor every post and will intervene promptly when needed. As an authorized distributor we offer our clients the full support of factory engineers.

Do you offer application software support?

Bosto cooperates closely with multinational computer software companies, including Adobe Systems Inc. and Autodesk Inc., to ensure compatibility with mainstream graphics applications. However, no user support for any specific application software is offered.

Why not use a support ticket system?

Rather than a private ticket system, we use a global community-based support system backed by factory engineers. This type of product support has two key advantages:

Self-help: All support topics are freely accessible so you can easily search for a solution to any issue.

Quick response: Volunteers located around the world can respond quickly to requests for assistance, unconstrained by your time zone.

Bosto tablets are intended to be affordable, and community-based support helps to maintain low product prices for the benefit of everyone joining the Bosto family. Our user group relies on all members to contribute to the body of knowledge, for the benefit of the whole community.

Where can I download drivers?

Drivers may be downloaded from the Bosto User Group or from the support area.

What should I do if my product is faulty?

It is very unlikely that your Kingtee tablet will develop a fault within the product's design life. Most often a perceived fault actually has a simple solution. When you suspect a fault, your first step should be to search the user group where you are likely find topics dealing with the issue. If you need assistance then please post on the user group so that we can collaborate with you. In this way we can quickly verify a fault and arrange an exchange or warranty repair as required.

How can I get help configuring my computer?

Please be prepared to spend some time configuring your computer system and software for use with your Kingtee tablet. You will find installation guides on our user group, and you are welcome to post requests for assistance.

Can I expect any defective pixels?

You should not find any defective pixels. Bosto has a zero-tolerance policy with regard to defective pixels, and this defect is covered by the product warranty. Often dust particles under the glass screen are mistaken for defective pixels. These particles can normally be dislodged by gently tapping the side of the housing while holding the tablet vertical.

SALES & POLICIES

Are you an official Bosto distributor?

We have been an official Bosto distributor since 2012, and we are authorized to supply Bosto tablets worldwide (excluding certain regions). When buying directly from us you are assured of factory prices and premium value added customer service with official factory support.

What is your GST/HST or VAT policy?

Currently our product list prices exclude GST/HST (Goods and Services Tax / Harmonized Sales Tax) or VAT (Value-Added Tax), and we do not provide tax invoices. The implications of this depend on where your shipment originates:

For orders shipped directly from the factory in China, this tax may be collected by local border services when you receive your package.

For orders shipped from a local warehouse, you are not liable for the payment of this tax.

In the near future we will be registered in Canada for GST/HST, and will then be required to add this tax for orders within Canada, regardless of shipment origin.

For orders shipped from the local warehouse in the United Kingdom to EU countries, it is possible that VAT may be collected by local border services.

How long will it take to dispatch my order?

Order processing involves inspection, testing and careful packaging to ensure that every product arrives safely and in perfect working order. The order processing time depends on the origin of your shipment:

We aim to dispatch orders from a local warehouse within two business days.

It can take up to five business days to dispatch orders directly from the factory in China.

Once your package has been dispatched, worldwide delivery to your door is typically within two to four business days.

Is import duty included in the price?

Our list prices do not include import duty.

Import duty is not payable for shipments dispatched to you from a local warehouse.

If your shipment originates from the factory in China, then local border services may collect import duty and taxes, and you would also be liable for any disbursement fees and/or surcharges.

Any import duties, customs fees, taxes, disbursement fees, and/or surcharges are the buyer's responsibility.

What is your shipping policy?

We ship worldwide, except to regions served by other distributors. All tablet orders are shipped free of charge, but shipping is normally added for accessories ordered separately. Our preferred carrier is DHL. Please note that any applicable import costs and local handling fees are not included in our list prices.

What is the warranty period for Kingtee tablets?

The manufacturer warrants tablets for one year from date of purchase. Accessories are not included in this warranty because these items are generally susceptible to mishandling, however, they will be replaced if found to be defective when received.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Currently we accept PayPal payments and offline bank transfers (wire transfers). We intend to start accepting direct credit card and debit card payments in the near future.

Signing up for a free PayPal account is easy and you can instantly send payments using your credit card without exposing your financial information. You can also fund your purchase from a PayPal balance or directly from your bank account.

Does PayPal charge for currency conversion?

If your payment must be converted to US dollars then you may incur a currency conversion charge. By default, PayPal handles the conversion but this can cost you a lot more than if your bank/credit card were to handle the conversion (possibly free). When making payment, PayPal may ask you to choose who should perform the currency conversion. Otherwise you may follow these steps to change PayPal's default currency conversion option:

My Account -> Profile -> My Money -> My preapproved payments -> Update -> See Available Funding Sources (or Set Available Funding Sources) -> Conversion Options (for the card you'd like to change this option) -> Bill me in the currency listed on the seller's invoice -> Submit.

What is your return policy?

We simply want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase! If for any reason you return your Kingtee tablet within 14 days then you will receive a refund. The cost of original shipping and/or the cost of return shipping may or may not be included in your refund depending on the situation. Please see our Terms & Conditions for full details.

Can I see your products before buying?

Currently it is only possible to purchase Bosto tablets online.

We do our best to provide as much product information as possible to help you make an informed buying decision. To find out more, you are welcome to interact with members of our user group, who are always happy to share their experience. As we are an authorized distributor, you are assured of factory-backed product support, and our return policy allows you to purchase with complete confidence.

Is it possible to trial your products?

Corporate clients interested in bulk purchases may contact us. Normally we would supply one sample product at our regular list price for trialling.

Are all of your policies freely accessible?

Yes, all of our policies are freely available on this website.
